Elyssa Helfer, B.A., trainee.
“As a new member of the Affordable Therapy Los Angeles team, I am privileged to have the opportunity to bring my unique experience and skills into practice. I firmly believe that as human beings, we all experience challenges that feel overwhelming and impossible to overcome. It is my hope that in our work together, we can bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be.
My passion for this field has grown tremendously as I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of diverse settings. My experience volunteering for the Minnesota AIDS Project enabled me to increase my understanding of HIV/AIDS as well as gain experience working with the LGBTQ population. Additionally, volunteering overseas has strengthened my ability to remain sensitive to the intricacies of cultural differences between all individuals.
The therapeutic journey that we will take together is grounded in respect and understanding. I recognize how difficult it is to take a leap into the unknown. You may be nervous, worried, or even scared to begin this process, and that is okay. Let me hold some of that fear for you so we can break through the walls of change together.
